A special MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR
What do you think of when you think of a YMCA? Do you think of free or minimal cost social service programming for children and families with critical needs?
There is more to the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington than summer camp, swimming, and exercise! The YMCA is a non-profit community organization. Your local YMCA Association features a very important branch within the YMCA's social services movement, YMCA Youth & Family Services (YFS). Operating in our community for over three decades, YFS provides noteworthy prevention and early-intervention services to the vulnerable populations within our community. We do this by pro-actively performing crisis intervention, providing medical clinical resources, counseling, mentoring and running after school activities at local community centers, elementary, middle and high schools. Each year, we care for over 3,500 youth and their family members who are often overlooked, under-represented or lack support.
Connect with Youth & Family Services through our website and by joining us on Facebook. If you would like to learn more or schedule a tour of our programs, feel free to reach me by e-mail or phone 301-587-5700 x2576.
I am personally inviting you and your organization to join us in making positive social change. Would you like to learn more about making a big difference in our community? If you would like to help advance our cause of youth development, healthy living & social responsibility, please CLICK HERE to make a secure online donation.
Thank you in advance for considering our invitation to make a difference!
Sincerely,

The YMCA Mentoring Program is a multi-agency initiative that provides mentoring matches in Montgomery County, MD. The program collaborates with Montgomery County Public Schools, the Department of Health & Human Services, the Department of Juvenile Services, and the Circuit Court of Montgomery County to match court-involved youth with adult mentors
The goal of the program is to establish a caring, trusted, and committed relationship to participants. Our mentors provide support, friendship, counsel, reinforcement, and serve as positive role models to the young people.
Mentors help the young people cope with their life circumstances and develop the life-skills needed to make positive choices by providing guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear.
