Adult Sports League

ADULT GYMNASTICS
Adult Gymnastics is for both men and women 16 years and older from beginners to experienced gymnasts. The first part of the class consists of practicing a series of gymnastics skills as a group on our spring floor – you can practice at your own pace. The second part of class is open gym where you can practice skills on different pieces of equipment, including uneven, parallel, or high bar; beam; vault; rings; and pommel horse. Instructors are available for coaching and spotting skills.

Tennis in Arlington, VA

ADVANCED
The player is able to consistently serve and return, and have good control over moderate shots. Classes concentrate on continuing to practice skills, footwork and strategy. Focus is on more control.

ADVANCED BEGINNER
The player will work to become more efficient and effective through playing drills and games. You will learn the forehand and backhand approach shot and the overhand stroke. Player is more consistent at returning shots, but lacks power and control.

BEGINNER
This class is for players who have played tennis and want to be reintroduced to the game. Classes will focus on building stroke mechanics, court awareness, and strategies for singles and doubles play.

CARDIO TENNIS
Are you ready for some heart pumping action? This class is a combination of drill and game- based themes designed to burn calories and reach players’ optimal heart rate zone.

INTERMEDIATE
The student is an experienced player, but needs drills and strategy and wants to refine strokes. The class will concentrate on hitting deep in court, placement of serve and return. Work with more difficult shots.

Martial Arts

Capoeira, Ju-Jitsu, Kung Fu, Shotokan Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi

CAPOEIRA
Discover the unique movement of Capoeira, a Brazilian dance mixed with martial arts, acrobatics and music. Through this class, students will learn basic corporal techniques of Capoeira including acrobatics, defense and attack movements. This is a great class if you are looking to improve your stamina, gain confidence and power, and learn about a new culture.

JUJITSU
Jujitsu is the Japanese martial art of unarmed self-defense. Learn practical and effective defensive skills in a safe, family-friendly environment.

KUNG FU
Learn discipline and self defense through traditional Chinese Kung Fu.

SHOTOKAN KARATE
Martial arts as a form of self-defense, philosophy and physical conditioning with an emphasis on reflex development, timing, eye-hand coordination, balance and a sense of well-being. These martial arts classes teach the basic stances, covers, kicks, and punches of Kenpo and Shotokan Karate. Benefits of karate include strength, flexibility, self-confidence, concentration, self-awareness, improved physical fitness, and more. Beginners welcome.

TAE KWON DO
Tae Kwon Do combines combat techniques, self-defense, sport, exercise, and in some cases meditation and philosophy.

TAI CHI
Tai Chi is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. To do tai chi, you perform a series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion.
