Summer camp at the YMCA is more than just a way to keep kids busy—it’s a place where they can explore, grow, and build memories that last a lifetime. At the YMCA, we understand that every child is unique. That’s why our summer camp programs are designed to meet a wide range of interests, needs, and personalities. Whether your child loves sports, science experiments, swimming, or imaginative play, we offer a camp experience that can spark their curiosity and fuel their confidence.
Let’s take a closer look at what makes the YMCA’s summer camps so special—and why now is the perfect time to sign up.
Traditional and Specialty Camps
Not all kids are the same, and their summer experiences shouldn’t be either. The YMCA offers a diverse selection of camp types, each crafted to nurture different skills, encourage personal growth, and—most importantly—make sure kids are having fun.
Traditional Camps form the core of the Y’s summer programming. These camps capture the classic spirit of summer camp with weekly themes that keep things fresh and exciting. One week your child might be searching for hidden treasure in “Treasure Island,” while the next they’re on a pretend safari during “Jungle Safari.” There’s always a new adventure around the corner. With a blend of team games, arts and crafts, STEM activities, and water play, these camps are ideal for kids who like a little bit of everything.
For children with more specific interests, Specialty Camps allow them to dive deeper into a particular topic or activity. From the bubbling excitement of “Goop & Magical Solutions,” where kids conduct wacky science experiments, to the creativity and environmental awareness of “Recyclemania,” each specialty camp combines hands-on learning with plenty of play. Budding detectives will love our “Crime Scene Investigation” camp, where they’ll solve puzzles, explore forensics, and even visit the Spy Museum.
Sports Camp
If your child is bursting with energy and loves being on the move, our Sports Camps offer a great outlet for all that enthusiasm. These camps focus on skill development, teamwork, and confidence-building in a variety of sports. Basketball, soccer, and t-ball camps help campers improve coordination, learn the rules of the game, and develop a healthy sense of competition—all in a positive, encouraging setting.
But sports camps aren’t just about competition. They’re about learning how to communicate, work with others, and develop resilience—valuable lessons that go well beyond the field or court.
Aquatics Camp
One of the highlights of any summer camp experience at the YMCA is time spent in the pool. Our Aquatics Camp offers a safe and fun way for kids to develop swimming skills and build water confidence. Campers participate in small-group swimming lessons tailored to their skill level and comfort in the water. When they’re not practicing their strokes, they enjoy aquatic games and free swim sessions under the watchful eyes of our certified instructors and lifeguards.
Aquatics Camp is a great choice for children who are learning to swim or simply love being in the water. With a mix of structure and play, it offers the perfect balance of learning and fun.
Leadership Camp for Teens
Summer camp isn’t just for little kids. We offer programming specifically designed for older campers who are ready to take on more responsibility and leadership.
Our Leadership Camps—including the Counselor-in-Training (CIT) and Junior Lifeguarding programs—help teens develop critical life skills. In the CIT program, participants learn the basics of child development, program planning, and camp leadership. They’ll work alongside experienced staff and even earn volunteer service hours along the way.
Teens interested in aquatic safety can enroll in the Junior Lifeguarding program, where they’ll learn CPR, water rescue techniques, and lifeguard basics. These camps empower teens to be role models in their community while preparing them for future job opportunities.
Travel Camps
Travel camps offer a fresh adventure every day for campers who love field trips and exploring the world around them. Designed for older elementary and middle schoolers, these camps take participants off-site to destinations like trampoline parks, bowling alleys, laser tag arenas, and more.
Travel Camp is an ideal option for curious and adventurous kids. It offers variety, independence, and a chance to try new activities in a structured and supervised environment.
What Sets YMCA Summer Camps Apart?
What makes YMCA camps so exceptional isn’t just the variety—it’s the people and values behind every program. Our camps are led by trained, enthusiastic staff who are passionate about youth development and making each camper feel seen and supported. Safety is our top priority, and our team follows rigorous protocols to ensure a secure and inclusive environment for every child.
More than that, our camps are guided by the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. These values are woven into every activity and interaction, helping campers build character and learn new skills.
We also know how important flexibility is for families. With full-day camp options, early drop-off, and extended care available, our programs are designed to work with your schedule, not the other way around.
Why Summer Camp Matters
Summer camp isn’t just about keeping kids busy—it’s a powerful tool for growth. Through camp, children develop independence, form new friendships, and gain confidence by trying new things. It’s an opportunity to unplug from screens, spend time outdoors, and connect with mentors and peers in meaningful ways.
At the Y, we believe every child deserves the chance to experience the magic of summer camp, and we’re committed to making that possible for families across our community.
