Virtual Volunteer Opportunities

Our staff are busy coordinating: emergency child care for first-responders and essential personnel, food distributions, advocacy messages and charitable outreach efforts to sustain our operations through this challenging period. The Y has currently developed “virtual” and limited-contact volunteer opportunities to support these efforts. Community members, like you, that volunteer to help will be vital to our success. This volunteer position assists YMCA staff in the processing, transportation, and distribution of donated goods to members of our community that desperately need assistance.

Primary Duties include:

  • Communicating with in-kind donors to coordinate item pick up (without physical contact)
  • Pick-up and transportation of donations to designated YMCA locations
  • Coordinating item pick-up and drop-off with YMCA Health + Nutrition staff

Work closely with YMCA branch leadership towards the shared goal of raising the visibility and sustaining the work of the YMCA in your community. This position assists Y staff in communication and connection to elected officials, donors, and members through electronic, written and interpersonal platforms.

Primary Responsibilities/ Duties:

  • Work collaboratively with branch leadership to engage local officials through various platforms for allocation of necessary funds for local initiatives by the Y
  • Use your network to promote the Y’s response, efforts, and critical needs during this crisis on social media
  • Follow up with existing Y community members to support the Y’s efforts to outreach and support the most vulnerable communities (Seniors and Families experiencing economic hardship) during the COVID-19 crisis.

Volunteers will assist Y staff in communication and connection to elected officials through electronic platforms.

Duties include:

  • Disseminating messaging from Y-USA on social media
  • Participation on conference calls, if requested
  • Engaging with local officials through various platforms for allocation of necessary funds for local initiatives by the Y
  • Op-Eds, letter writing to elected leaders, phone calls to elected leader’s offices
  • Directed use of Twitter, Instagram
  • Promoting the Y’s response, efforts, and critical needs during this crisis on social media

Will assist Y™ Youth Development group in the School Age program to deliver e-learning to essential personnel children in different subject areas.

Primary Responsibilities (Duties):

  • Deliver e-learning to essential personnel students ( K-5th grade) receiving care
  • Work with Y staff to coordinate different subject areas to deliver to the children
  • Create packets for Y staff to use with the students while at care
